August 31, 2018

The two major organizations of Japan and China, the CHAdeMO Association of Japan and China Electricity Council, recently announced that they will sign an official agreement this month to set up a new unified standard for EVs by integrating their proprietary standards, the Nikkei Asian Review reported on August 22. China Electricity Council has been developing a new GB/T fast charging standards. Thus far, there are up to 90% of EV devices worldwide compliant to Japan's CHAdeMO and China's GB/T standards and thus creating a common standard will enhance the industry competitiveness of both sides. Western EVs have own standard called Combo. Meanwhile, CHAdeMO is also planning to cooperate with India on developing a national EV charging standard.
